About Me

I am a researcher and doctoral candidate at the Chair of Software and Systems Engineering led by Prof. Alexander Pretschner. I received a M.Sc. degree in Informatics with Distinction from TU Munich; my thesis is entitled "Metadata Recovery of Transformations from Obfuscated Software via Machine Learning Techniques". I also obtained a M.Sc. with Distinction in Information Security from University College London (UCL). My dissertation--conducted in collaboration with BT Innovate and Design--focused on semantic-based misuse detection of malware in web applications, and was awarded third best dissertation in information security by the department of computer science. In 2009, I was awarded my B.Sc. Magna Cum Laude in Computer Science from the American University in Cairo (AUC). I worked on my Bachelor thesis as a member of the "eXcreen: The external touchscreen" application team, that won Microsoft Imagine Cup's "Best Windows Mobile Application".

Research Interests

My primary research focus is on utilizing machine learning techniques and algorithms within the domains of malware analysis/detection, Android security, and penetration testing. I am also interested in security engineering and its related topics e.g. obfuscation, secure coding, security patterns, et cetera.

Thesis Topics and Supervision

Please contact me if you are interested in doing your Bachelor or Master thesis in the aforementioned topics under my supervision.
